966 Stone Canyon is a Spanish modern ground-up residence situated on approximately half an acre in Lower Bel-Air, just moments from the Hotel Bel-Air. The project was developed to integrate architectural character with structural complexity and a fully programmed living environment within a highly sought-after setting.

The home includes five bedrooms, an office, a dedicated theater, an ADU, and multiple levels of living space connected by an elevator extending from a semi-subterranean garage level through two habitable floors—requiring precise coordination across structural and mechanical systems.

The site was carefully engineered to accommodate a series of double retaining walls, allowing for a layered backyard program with a specialty-shaped pool and curated landscaping. Over 1,000 plantings—including six 125-year-old olive trees and mature 30-foot ficus—were integrated to establish complete privacy, reinforced by tall solid steel entry gates and controlled site access.

Material selection and interior execution were approached with the same level of intent, featuring custom walnut kitchen cabinetry and extensive use of travertine and limestone throughout. Plaster-finished walls and ceilings further reinforce the architectural language, maintaining consistency across all spaces.

Interior planning focused on creating distinct yet connected living environments, anchored by a primary suite designed as a standalone retreat with a boutique-style closet and a custom-carved round travertine soaking tub. Additional infrastructure, including dual laundry setups and a fully integrated Control4 smart home system, was incorporated early to ensure seamless functionality.

From planning through execution, the project reflects a disciplined approach to sequencing, structural integration, landscape coordination, and finish detail—delivering a cohesive residence that balances design intent with build precision.
